Inspectah Deck and Esoteric return for a sequel to last year’s fantastic album, “Every Hero needs a Villain.” This time, it’s not quite as good, but it’s still well worth a listen. like their last album, it’s heavy with comic book references and imagery, and sounds an awful lot like something MF DOOM might do.
But, hey, if MF DOOM isn’t using his own style, no reason someone else can’t, right?
The big difference is the addition of gritty, Wu Tang-style hardcore street content, which keeps the listener off balance, always guessing, and always interested.
Check out key cuts, like Steranko (named after one of the best comic artists of the 1970s), all in together Now, and Sabers.
